[OAUGNetDBA]-PDF printing from FND_LOBS

I am looking for some ideas on printing a PDF in EBS to a designated printer using a server side package, where it needs to read content(only pdfs) from a BLOB and print. Is it possible to print in stream with out actually writing out the PDF to a file? Even if we write out to the PDF to the file system, what is the best way to accomplish this? Is there an extproc Package which can print PDF on unix using an adobe exe or a java stored proc? Appreciate any input!

I am exploring a requirement to show thumbnails in OA Framework from files stored in FND_LOBS. We are using the content Manager module(IBC) to upload different types of content(ppt, pdfs etc.)
where the objects are stored in FND_LOBS. Has anyone implemented the "thumbnail"(the first frame of a ppt etc.) feature or familiar with/know about a 3rd party product that can be java integrated to framework. Are there database features that can convert an object and save a thumbnail of it?

Any ideas or pointers would also be appreciated.
