Hello DBA's, When applying the 3480000 11.5.10 upgrade patch -- I've noticed that the upgrade takes the most time with UPLOADING XMLImporter.class files and loadking jlt files. I've focused my concerns on speeding up the time it takes these scripts load -- I have no idea what all is being loaded but is sure is loading a ton of these and literally taking me days for them to complete. ADJREOPTS and ADJRIOPTS - on my system look like they are set to low. I really don't know for sure what a good baseline is ... but from notes I've read on metalink -- my numbers were low compared to what other used to get from 11.0.3 to 11.5.8 -- and we've been on 11.5.9 for 5 years. I wanted to ask you if anyone had any rules of thumb or knowledge with how to set the associated values -- based on the number of processors or memory available. Can I just bump these values up for the upgrade patch -- then set them back down? We are using Java 1.5.1 32bit on IBM AIX. - Planning to use 4 workers on my forms/web tier - two processor machine with 4 gigs of memory. There is aa database/concurrent manager tier that has more memory and processor. Patches are being applied from the forms/web tier I'm currently set at : ADJREOPTS="-ms128m -mx256m" & ADJRIOPTS="-mx512m" I'd like to move up to ADJREOPTS="-ms384m -mx768m" and ADJIOPTS="-mx1536" to be redundant My current system is two tiered with database and concurrent manger on 1 LPAR and my apps/forms tier on another LPAR-- they have a shared filesystem and use OATM and the database is already at 10.2.0.3. the patches are being applied from the FORMS/WEB tier -- that has 4 gigs of ram and 2 processors. We are also at the ATG_PF5 Deleta 6 With my new numbers do you expect that I'll have a problems ? Is it possible that I have overallocated for the amount of resources available. Also - when patching I'm only using 4 workers and keeping the default chunk size. I'm simply trying to make my patching jobs go faster. Thanks for any insight.
