Hi all, There is a requirement for a client who deals with manufacturing and maintaining of assets, they have multiple asset installations in different locations in a particular geography. They do receive some materials for these assets time-to-time as part of routine maintenance and wish to track these details in GL. Currently we propose to have these assets mapped to inventory orgs and have them as balancing segments. Typically PO would be raised and receipt in these inventory orgs but this setup involves creation of around 60 odd inventory orgs. Standard costing would be followed in all these orgs and costs would/wouldn't differ much for the items. Pros of this approach are COGS, receiving accounts etc can be taken from each of the inventory orgs apart from modeling in-transit lead times between these locations. Cons include maintenance of these orgs like period closures, costing etc. Other way to proceed is to have sub-inventories with locations mapped but need to add in details of these accounts through DFF and hence call for customizations. I would like to know if there is any better way of handling this and any other pros and cons I missed out of the above two approaches.
