Susan,

The workorder close does not create the FG item, the WIP Assy Completion
transaction does.  But yes, Oracle Inventory will continue to track the
elemental costs while the FG item in inventory.  But, to my knowledge,
COGS accounting is not elemental, so all the elements would get
summarized into one COGS entry when the FG is shipped out of inventory.

I am new to the group and have a top level question that I was hoping
someone using the manufacturing software can answer.

 When a Finished Goods line item is created (when a workorder is closed)
that includes Material Costs, Standard Labor Costs & Standard Overhead
Costs does Oracle continue to maintain the three cost buckets so that
they can flow to the G/L Cost of Goods Sold Accounts as three separate
line items or does it lump it all together as one Cost of Goods Sold
Line?
