There is a java package called jexcelapi which does what you would like (www.andykhan.com)
if you can figure out how to *easily* integrate into pl/sql I'd love to hear about it.
I haven't found the time to fool with it other than to convert excel spreadsheets to csv's.

Probably a bad question given the relationship between Bill and Larry but has anyone been successful directing output from the 11i application DIRECTLY to Microsoft Excel file?

I do not want to use a CSV file or TXT file I would like to direct my output directly to an Excel file.

Is the a PL/SQL package or Java something out there somewhere?
