Don’t miss your opportunity to meeting with top Oracle executives from the Oracle Dubai Office, as well as the United Kingdom office and international headquarters in Redwood Shores, California. Meetings will be 30 minutes and a schedule of topics and available times will be available upon check-in at registration.

Dinner Cruise on the Historic Dubai Creek

No trip to Dubai is complete without a sunset tour of Dubai Creek, with a view of some of the world’s most historic architecture as well as stylish, modern skyscrapers — all in one evening. Step aboard the exquisite Danat, a luxury sailing vessel designed to offer the most comfortable and awe-inspiring views of the Middle East island jewel — Dubai. Departure from the hotel will take place immediately following the closing keynote at 18:00.

Inaugural Meeting of the Oracle Applications Users Group — Middle East

OAUG welcomes all Connection Point attendees to attend this important inaugural meeting of the OAUG — Middle East. This is the time to get the information you need to be one of the first to join this important group of Oracle customers. In this meeting, you will learn how the group will be created, find out volunteer opportunities and begin the process of developing the first-ever users group in Dubai.

About the OAUG and Our Global Users Community

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) welcomes and encourages Oracle applications software users to participate and align with OAUG to take advantage of being part of a global community.

OAUG International Users Groups are entities that affiliate with the OAUG to further the mission of serving as a resource of knowledge, education and networking opportunities to all user members, and a unified voice to Oracle, representing all Oracle Applications users, OAUG has standards that each group must meet and adhere to in order to obtain and maintain affiliated status and be eligible for the various benefits and services offered to users group.

Wherever users of Oracle applications are interested in forming a users group, OAUG will assist in its creation and support of activities. Once this is established, then the following process can take place. The main OAUG contact during this process is Regina K. All members of the OAUG Middle East Users Group (MEUG) must be members of the OAUG. OAUG will provide the MEUG with a special membership rate that reflects the benefits available to the Users Group.

The OAUG recognizes that each country or region of the world has a unique culture and therefore the following process is meant to serve as a general guideline for the creation of an OAUG International Users Group.

• Identify individuals in the specific country who are interested in and willing to commit to the creation of a users group.
• Engage in a formal membership agreement with OAUG
  • This document is created for each individual International group. It specifies the membership amount per company and is signed by the new Users Group.
• Identify and select a volunteer board
  • The creation and selection of a board is the key to building a solid users group foundation
  • Members must be in good standing with their OAUG membership
  • Experienced in working with Oracle Applications
  • Committed to support and grow of the users group
• Determine Leadership Roles
  • Key recommended roles are: Chair-coordinator, Co-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Director
  • Other possible positions are: Meeting Director, Communication Director, Web site coordinator, Newsletter Editor, Members at Large
• Elect a User Group coordinator and other officers
  • Pick a strong leader for the Chair-coordinator
  • Maintain a healthy mix of users and consultant members
• Complete and submit Affiliation form
  • This form is provided to the group when the board has been chosen
• Submit web site and listserv request form
  • OAUG services includes the creation and maintenance of a Web site which is a great way to effectively communicate out to the members within the region and beyond
  • Along with the Web site, OAUG services provides help in establishing a listserv that can be utilized for membership lists and meeting registration
• Adopt OAUG written bylaws specific to the new international users group
  • Provides regulations for operations
  • Must be signed and submitted prior to "official" approval of the new Users Group
• Meetings
  • Create a board meeting schedule
  • Create a Users Group meeting schedule- must hold at least one meeting per year
• Education and provide value to members
  • OAUG will help the Users Group with templates and verbiage to outline the value of belonging to the local Users Group.
  • Organize meetings, panel discussion, conferences to provide value to members
  • Encourage members to network and share ideas
  • Also encourage members to volunteer
• Hold Elections
  • Elections must be held at least every two years
  • OAUG can assist by providing sample call for candidates, election timelines, position descriptions, etc

The Users Group must be approved by the OAUG Geo/SIG committee. Once approved and all members of the Users Group are members of OAUG, the Users Group will be provided with all the benefits of OAUG. OAUG will monitor compliance of the Users Group throughout the year. The key staff liaison will be in contact with the Users Group, at a minimum, during each quarter.
