President’s Corner

2008 OAUG President Jan Wagner

2008 OAUG President Jan Wagner

During Oracle OpenWorld last year, Oracle announced the recipients of the 2007 Oracle Excellence Award. The award recognized Oracle customers for their success in delivering exceptional business value through the innovative use of Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Applications.

Among the 2007 Oracle Excellence Award recipients were ten OAUG member organizations — an impressive showing for the OAUG and its community of Oracle Applications users.

Nominations for the 2008 Oracle Excellence Awards are now being accepted and can be submitted until Friday, August 8, 2008. Award Recipients will receive a free registration to Oracle OpenWorld 2008, recognition at an awards ceremony at Oracle OpenWorld 2008, opportunities to meet with Oracle executives, media visibility and more.

I encourage OAUG member organizations to submit nominations again this year for this prestigious award, and I look forward to celebrating with the winners at Oracle OpenWorld 2008.

The OAUG member organizations that received the Oracle Excellence Award in 2007 were:

The OAUG Knowledge Factory™ Grows With Member Participation

Since the launch of the OAUG Knowledge Factory™ just last month, OAUG members have been tapping into and building upon the resources that it contains. Using Web 2.0 technology, the OAUG Knowledge Factory provides OAUG members with a centralized, dynamic platform for user-submitted content and knowledge sharing.

See what members are saying about the OAUG Knowledge Factory:

I have used many community-driven sites/products and what I have found with the Knowledge Factory by OAUG is the simplicity and all encompassing tools. What I have also found with the Knowledge Factory is the built-in user community access to the entire OAUG user membership. This I found very useful, considering the content and questions on this community site are all driven around Oracle software. I will continue to post and respond on the Knowledge Factory and I would encourage others to do so as well.

In an era of knowledge workers, the Knowledge Factory has provided the ideal platform for sharing global Oracle knowledge. Oracle’s online support portal, MetaLink, is by far superior to its enterprise applications competitors. And, the Knowledge Factory provides a user experience even a dimension beyond MetaLink through interactive discussions, blog posts and comments. In a few short weeks, the Knowledge Factory has become a daily go-to site for Oracle professionals. May I recommend the OAUG Knowledge Factory for all Oracle practioners.

Experience the OAUG Knowledge Factory today.
