OAUG News
President’s Corner
2008 OAUG President Jan Wagner
Mike Levin, the OAUG executive director, and I had the opportunity to meet with several Oracle executives last week at Oracle headquarters in Redwood Shores, Calif., to take a strategic look at the upcoming year and discuss some key initiatives that will certainly be of interest to the users community.
One of the topics we covered is the status of R12, which has been on the market for about 12 months and is considered a solid product. The OAUG and Oracle will be presenting several informational R12 Webinars in the next few weeks and will also provide opportunities for more in-depth R12 discussion and exploration at COLLABORATE 08: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community in Denver, Colo., April 13-17, 2008.
Oracle also asserts that the “Future is Fusion,” and we know this is a hot topic. The COLLABORATE 08 — OAUG Forum will feature numerous Fusion-specific learning opportunities, including the Usability Testing for Fusion Applications and Applications Unlimited sessions, the OAUG Fusion Council Panel on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, and Oracle executive presentations and product demonstrations. Visit the COLLABORATE 08 OAUG conference Web site to find the Fusion sessions and activities that are right for you.
At the end of last week, the 2008 OAUG Board of Directors held its first meeting and outlined a strategy to further enhance levels of service for our members. You’ve told us how connecting and networking with other users in the community are especially valuable in enhancing your capabilities in the day-to-day use and management of Oracle Applications. We are working on some exciting projects to make this even easier for our members and will be making some big announcements at COLLABORATE 08.
Your own active participation in building the OAUG is the most effective way to make an impact. We encourage you to reach out to other users whose organizations may not be members of the OAUG to help them realize how they can grow and advance as part of this dynamic users group.
We will certainly keep you posted on news and new developments coming from Oracle and the OAUG in upcoming issues of OAUG eNews and on the OAUG Web site. Be sure to stay tuned.
And don’t forget to register for COLLABORATE 08 before the early-bird registration deadline on March 13, 2008.
— Jan Wagner, OAUG President
